Currently working on my 90g RR build and will start cutting for the stand and canopy soon. Just curious if there is a sealant that would be best for the wood as it is obviously going to be exposed to the saltwater. Last time around I used simple polyurethane and it seems to be holding up well. Any suggestions?
P.S. I'll get a build thread going soon. If anyone liked my stand and canopy last time, you're gonna love what I'm working on now /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif So excited!

I used the same thing on my stand, but i will be using an epoxy paint for my next canopy (same type that you use for garage floors) this stuff is waterproof and wont just come off with age. The other thing you could use for your canopy, if its made out of solid wood is to just use a stain/sealer.

Minwax Spar polyurethane, that's the exterior grade.Another option would be a "Marine" grade sealant.
