Just wondering if any of you experienced cloudy water after adding bio pellets

yup for about the first 3 days. Hopefully you started off with about half the recommended amount otherwise you are in for a cyano bloom as well. But dont fret after about a month or so it will go away.

I have heard of that happening. I never experienced it nor have I ever had a cyano outbreak after running them. I must just be lucky I guess.

yeah I have not gotten mine online yet but everyone I spoke with tells me the same thing. I think its one of the biggest reasons I have not got my online as I do not feel like even seeing cyano, that and my LPS are doing so good.

yep the cloudy water sounds like a bacteria bloom IMO it will clear up. I don't run biopellets but have done alot of reading and put some thought into them, My setup is running good and if it aint broke dont fix it. Good luck man

i know you should put the output from the reactor near the intake of your skimmer due to some of the stuff that will come out of the reactor and can cause your water to get dirty

I have also read to run the skimmer a little yet while starting up. It also been recommended to dose with MicroBacter 7 it will help speed up the new biological bacteria.

The cloudy water is a bacteria bloom, usually caused by adding too much of the pellets. You will want to make sure the tank has plenty of aeration because of the bloom... Add an airstone or two /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

Question on this subject. I recently changed the reactor that I was using for bio pellets. Went from CPR nano reactor to a BRS reactor. I have been experiencing some cloudy water, cyano, and a small amount of hair algae. I am just thinking its due to the better reactor that I am using. All the fish and corals seem to be doing fine. My question is, would running carbon help keep the water clear, or is just time needed to fix the problem.
