Not to critique your reef keeping but one week old and you have corals in it?

    Jamie,
Let me know if my reefkeeping is okay with you. I used established crushed coral, established live rock and also used water out of one of my other tanks. Maybe I am wrong but that should work to be able to setup a tank. If not I guess I am wrong. There is always a critic in the field. If I was perfect I would never have negative messages on this forum.

It's certainly not the best way to do it, but the way you did it is about as much as you can do to establish a instant saltwater tank. Next to using hot tap water and cooling it down with ice cough..cough..:) that is.
You have to remember that the aquariums walls, pumps and any surfaces do not contain a "biological film" which will eventually cover everything under the waterline in a established aquarium. Crushed coral has been widely debated as well as a nitrate factory but IMO as long as it is kept clean I see no harm in using it.
Any way good luck with the sale!  A picture with the listing would probably help here to[IMG]

Using dirty water and cured live rock with some cultured substrate should work just fine. I would not load the tank with coral, but a few hardy ones should be just fine. I don't think you could even pay me to wait as long as some people say you should wait lol.

I agree. You can fill a tank with coral after setting up if youre experienced and understand cycling. Esp. If theyre hardy... Each siruations different. I had acros in there quicky, but i have a huge tank and cured lr...

I dont think theres much debate about crushed coral. Its like anything else that traps food before the fish can eat it-it will turn into nitrogen. If yo star to have trouble fill it with finer live sand or remove it. Its not the end of the world imo.
