One interesting talk at MACNA was biodiversity.

For the last few years they have been studying various species on the reef. They now estimate there are over one million species of life in the ocean.

The part that really stunned me is on every square meter of reef, there are over 1,000 species of life. Anything from ciliates and plankton, to corals and fish.

This reinforces my belief of seeding your tanks with various kinds of plankton before adding anything else.

So what is your method for seeding plankton? Do you have a good local source for it?

I am a little surprised that they estimate only a million forms of life in the sea.... considering how little of it we know and have mapped I would have expected much more.

sent from fone, please excuse miss typed and hippos.

I like to get most of mine through algagen. I will be stocking and culturing some soon. Mainly focus on the harptecoid pods, those are the ones that live on surfaces. The free swimming pods will not survive in a home system.
