So I think these things are already starting to do their job. I am running them in a TLK 150 reactor in line with another same reactor with carbon inside. Tank is cloudy today and I already see a thick film forming on the pellets. Skimmer started pulling out mad skimmate today. Is it possible that things are moving this fast? How long should I expect the cloudiness?

I just started my reactor up today...how much of an increase in your skimmate did you see? I want to try to be prepared for the increase.

I never got a bactera bloom when I started. But from what I read the cloudiness only last 2 or 3 days.

if you dont have a huge bioload or high nutrient content, you will not likely see a bloom. what you will notice though, is your water will become clearer than ever and the smell will be similar to a fresh pool. you really won't need the carbon either, in fact the carbon is stripping beneficial elements from your water. the NP pellets are the best thing since sliced bread.

I JUST got my skimmer set up on the biocube as I am downgrading, but I used all water from the main tank which is a FOWLR and is super dirty (well, compared to anything I have kept before anyway). The skimmer was put on line last night at 8-9 pm so this is about 12 hours of skimmate. I did do some mods on the skimmer to be way more efficient than stock, but this is the darkest skimate I have ever seen. Super dry as well.

    Forgot to add...
The mods I did was a maxijet mod (instead of the POS stock rio) as well as made the impeller a needle wheel (using hald of a small bioball). This little thing is a champion now. I have never seen it perform this well, let alone only 12 hours into operation (usually it takes a week to even get a tea colored skimmate). I guess I am just shocked that things moved this fast since I didn't even dose any bacteria. I thought these pellets took a good long while to get a colony going on them. For now, all I have in this tank is snails and such, but I will be doing water changes using the big tank's water to keep the biolad going in this one. Will also be doing some water tests as I am eager to see how those will look.

And since I am posting like a madman (I hate editing in pics, sorry)... here is that needle wheel mod. I think it turned out well after 15 minutes of drilling/dremeling! [IMG]
