I know they can over take an aquarium and I think they are really neat. I read online that they spread fast but they don't sting over corals and if they touch another they will die. Is this true they don't sting others?

True. Our old 210 was carpeted in them and they did not seem to bother other coral and were readily displaced by other coral. We had them spawn a couple of times too...cool sight. Here is what our old tank looked like with them:

Dave I might of picked them up from you. Do you live south of DM? Did your tank leak? I had them under my AI leds for 2 years and they all but died. Been under t5s for 3 months and now going crazy.

Yep, that was me. We have since moved to the Maffitt lake area on the SW side of DSM (Cumming address). That tank did leak and we took it down. We moved about 1.5 years ago.

Did you put up a tank in the new place?

Dave, the blue clover in your tank looks great. I just picked up a rock with blue clover. I'm glad it's not harmful. I like the look. I don't mind the fast growth. I have it on a single rock, so I can control the spread.

Thanks for the compliment. We loved that tank but it leaked on Valentines day 2 years ago so we took it down as our house was on the market at the time. We still have several of the coral and a couple of the fish though. We have since moved and set up another 210 (in wall) and a 280.

You cannot contain them on a rock like GSP because they spawn and spread all over that way as well as through matting like GSP does. Here is a pic of them spawning in our old tank. Good thing you like the look :)

I have some that came with my tank. They are spreading pretty quickly. Mine are also under T5 lights.

I guess if they don't kill off other corals then they're ok. They do carpet over everything that is not covered and they are in the category of once you get em, you got em for life. I will say that they have taken over several of my corals including a jason fox one I got at MACNA that had otherwise been doing well so I have a strong desire to KILL THEM ALL and personally would not wish these on anyone. IMO they fall into the same category as Anthelia and Xenia in that they spread like wildfire. In fact people have resorted to treating their entire tank with a chemical that kills them off, there is an RC thread about it, hard to get stuff because the company stopped making the pills. The treatment also kills inverts and sponges.

If they die under LEDs then I might switch to those just to kill them. They look pretty and spread very slowly so I suppose one could control them but you will never eradicate them. But I think some got into Grove & Platt on the clam I got from Dave but they are gone, I think the angels in the tank took care of them along with the zoas. Too bad the filefish I put in my tank isn't eating them. Did I mention that I hate blue clove polyps and want to KILL THEM?
