so what other labels does AE make besides their own. For instance do they do the HyVee dairy products of Fareway or other off brand marketing of their products?

Why should I boycott them? Why are they striking, what are the terms?

They want us to take a huge cut in our insurance with no pay raise. basically comes out to a $1.75 an hour paycut and they added language in our contract that could make us part time employees and not guarantee us 40 hours a week

I am not anti union but AE employees have had it good for a long time. They currently pay nothing for healthcare. I don't have all the facts but any business model where the company is footing the entire healthcare bill was bound to change at some point. That's partly why GM had to be restructured. Healthcare cost were never going down. Sounds like a cop out to blame everything related to healthcare on the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act".

My companies insurance rates have climbed greater than the annual raise for the last 2 years, I was told that the provision to cover adult children to the age of 26 is the main culprit. I am thankful that my employer does offer excellent insurance, instead of cutting our benefits, they significantly increased the employee contribution ( close to 20%). They also implemented fees for tobacco use, and having a working spouse who can obtain benefits elsewhere. We are being told that as more of the Obama Care, or The Affordible Care Act's provisions are implemented, employee costs will continue to rise. Those of us with the privledge of having a job with "Cadillac" insurance plans like you and me, will pay. This is why Obama Care has been called the largest tax increase on middle class americans in history (although it is not a tax, and makes our employers out to be the ones responsible).

    Regardless, I wish you luck.

Also, please boycott Monsanto, Cargill, Pioneer, and any other huge multi-national farming organization that employs excessive use of hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, gmo's and insists on feeding cows corn. Thank you /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/biggrin.gif

I personally think this is the best part for the best health insurance that is being offered to them they will only have to pay $159 a month from what I have been told........ idk about the rest of you but that is cheap as hell imo ..... I hope yall don't have a no strike clause in your contract because if you do you basically just forfeited your jobs...

I think you need a reality check on how good you have it. I pay about $1100 a month for family health care. Granted, I work for a very small office of about 20 employees, but for someone to complain about (at max) $105 a month for health care just seems silly. I've been in some horrible job situations and take it from me, you're not there yet.

You have to admit they do have very good benefits but it is hard for anyone to have to pay more for insurance when you are not getting a raise. The cost of living goes up and the pay check covers less and less each year. Unfortunately this is reality for the majority of Americans especially middle class and lower income families. This is what is called the eroding of the middle class.

I feel your pain, but cost of Insurance has gone up for everyone. Ours goes up every year just about or we change providers. I would try to get a freeze on the cost for like term of contract or something. I agree that you should get some kind of cost of living raise or something, but a raise to cover the cost would not help the bottom line for the company.

    Unions puzzle me..

    Good luck my friend..
