This is from marinedepot reviews for the skimmer

This skimmer produces a nice foam and is good quality. I would give it 5 stars if it was easier to fit in my tank. The description of the product looks like even if you couldn't fit it in the back compartments of your tank, you could put it in the display portion of the tank. I have a 29 Biocube HQI and the lip on the tank prevents it from being installed in the display portion of the tank. You have to get very creative to fit it into the intake compartment of the back of the tank. I had to remove some plastic from the rim of the tank and the clips from the back of the skimmer. I then was able to fit the skimmer into this compartment with the water intake of the skimmer right up against the top intake grate of the compartment. It slid in fine until it hit the plastic lip about halfway down. I maneuvered it a little and pushed harder to get it in to the correct depth. The lid to the compartment does not fit back on, so I just have it sitting on top of the skimmer. The manufacturer would do a great service to customers by providing installation recommendations for the major Nano-Cube style tanks on the market.

So it wouldnt be hard to modify the back of the tank to make it fit... Just a couple snips lol

I've got one, be sure to add hot glue to the acrylic separator seams, makes it a little harder to clean fully but improves performance 1000%...
I loved mine when I had a nano up, wish I could use it on my bigger tank lol..
Btw, you can fit these in the biocube, you just have to use a razor blade to remove one little part of plastic from the biocube to allow it to fit in chamber 1... one hell of a design though for a skimmer.

Does anyone know if this fits on a standard aquarium rim? I saw a report where someone with a 27 cube could not make it work correctly with the trim (which is what I have). I am having trouble imagining how they would have designed it to not fit inside a standard frame??? It seems like a nice upgrade/addition over my bakpak I am using IF it fits.

It attaches with magnets or suction cup. It is a combination type deal. Either use with two suction cups which mounts on back of skimmer or pull one of the suction cups off and mount on outside of tank to be magnetic with the other suction cup. I believe you could probably set the top edge even with the rim and you would be set.
