From what I can find online there are varied opinions on these things. I have a pretty large one in my tank. (One that I know of) Only comes out at night. Doesn't seem to bother anything and cleans up some algae. The only thing I'm afraid of is him messing with my anemone. I read online that they might eat them when they get bigger. Honestly, the thing kind of creeps me out anyway, so I guess I'm answering my own question. Just wanted to make sure they aren't really beneficial before I yank him out.

Haha...I thought I had a couple decent size bristle worms in my first 29g reef. When I was done with that tank the water was just evaporating out due to my laziness. The water level got low enough and the salt level high enough that they all came out of the live rock. I would say there were at least 50 inside that little tank. Never caused any problems for me.

The Fire(real red color) Bristle worms are the ones you don't want. The Black to orange ones are ok and help keep your tank clean and are very normal to have. You can pull them if you want and I have done so myself. They can sting you with there bristles and it don't feel good from what I know. I get the big ones gone when I can.

Good for your tank, bad for your hands!
