I recently bought a Jebao doing pump and BRS 2 part dosing for Alk/Ca/Mg. With this BRS 2 part dosing, do you usually dose the same amount of Ca as Alk daily? Or do you have to dose different amounts per day, for example you might does 2oz of the Alk mix and only 1oz of the Ca mix. Im just wondering because I've been manually dosing these every other day and I usually have to add less calcium than alkalinity. Anybody know why this might be? or maybe my Ca checker isn't reading correctly?

usully you add more alk then calc.

You need to know how much your system is using ever day.

Too much is way more harmful then not enough

If you are using the BRS calculator, make sure you are selecting the right type of Ca additive. It should be about 9oz of Ca to raise it up 50ppm or something like that....anyways it should be noticeably different than the 2oz of Alk you dose to raise 1 dKH.

It's been awhile since I was doing the BRS 2 part but If I remember right once all the levels were balanced I was dosing the same amounts of the Ca and Alk portions.

You should always monitor levels and determine your uptake. Don't dose for a week, start out with a baseline test then test each day at the same time every day, record results, then figure up the average daily drop.

Figure up your dosing and set it up. Don't forget to calibrate the doser (run and time how long it takes to dose a given volume).

Then test again at least every other day to make sure your levels are staying where they should.

Using the BRS 2 part additives. After you manually dose both parts to the levels you want. Then stop dosing for 3 or 4 days. Test your level on 3rd or 4th day and figure you tanks demand and divide by 3 or 4 days. Then go to the BRS reef calculator and put in your numbers. Onec you figure demand divide that by your 3 or 4 days. And that's your dose.
With the BRS 2 part you are supposed to dose equal amounts of alkalinity and calcium otherwise you get an in balance and you will be chasing numbers all the time.
I get my alkalinity dose dialed in where I want and dose equal amount of calcium. Mine runs 7.5 dhk and 410 calcium dosing equal parts . I test alkalinity 3 times a week and calcium about 2 times a month. Magnesium I test 1 time a month. But if I have to adjust dosage I test daily until it's stable for a couple weeks.
When adjusting parameters never use tour dose to do this. Do that manually and only adjust your dozer a ml or 2 at a time and test often. Otherwise you will be chasing numbers up and down.
Only adjust alkalinity .5 dhk per day, calcium 50 ppm and magnesium 100 ppm per day with corals in tank. Otherwise you will have problems.
Also when adding 2 part, dose at least 10 minutes between each part otherwise you will have precipitation. I dose alkalinity top of the hour and calcium 10 minutes after that. Mine is setup to dose 24 times a day.
There are helpful videos on BRS and very good articles on reef central and reef2reef. Just search Randy Holms-Farley 2 part and read up.
    Hope that helps

I think you have one extra divide by in there - you dose to desired level and test on day 1 then no dosing and test on day 4, figure the difference, then either
    1) divide by 4 and that's your daily dose -> enter into calculator, or
    2) enter into calculator and then divide that by 4
...but not both, you would end up dosing 1/4 of what you need

I know that's what you meant just wanted to clarify it in case anyone else read that and followed it verbatim :)
