I'm thinking about buying one of these to make water for a 40 gal. or smaller reef tank.

I'm sure there are product reviews on here somewhere but i'm just wondering what everyone thinks about this unit currently. Should I buy it?

IMO if you can afford it go for the 6 stage with dual DI. It comes with everything you could use like a membrane flush kit, dual TDS meters, volume meter, etc. The only thing I like to add is a couple valves between the RO and DI stages to allow for running out the RO water for a few minutes before engaging the DI (to extend the life)

I prefer dual DI because it just protects your water better. When you see that one cartridge is almost fully changed over, you put #2 in #1's place and refill #1 and put in #2's place. IMO it's worth the extra $$.

Yep bud that's the same setup I have including adding the extra valves. I also added a second membrane to refilter the waste water so mine is now a 150 GPD. but you can only do that if you have high water pressure or if you have a booster pump

Not going to disagree with the other guys, but it is a nice unit.
Getting some of the add-ons like the flush kit, pressure valve, and TDS meters are almost a must have. That puts you into the "Value PLUS" system for $40 more, but it is cheaper to buy that all at once than to add those pieces later.

For a 40 gal tank that value system should serve your needs just fine. The extras are nice, but not necessary. The extra capacity is nice, but with a 40, you shouldn't need 150 gpd.

I added a pressure gauge, membrane flush for $25 in parts from lowes.
