   won this at spring fest and getting ready to set up. im thinking about putting the pump in the middle chamber(fuge) and the return line in the return chamber. this is a 40 g sump.  my only ? is will it mess with my water level?

   Yes. But only once...it takes water to fill the canisters and that will throw your water level off. Top your sump back off with saltwater and you're back in business.
