I have a emperor 400 on a 40 breeder and its producing micro bubbles and its driving me crazy!!!! I have tried everything and I do mean everything to get it to stop or reduce the amount to no avail. Does anyone have suggestions on another HOB filter that doesn't produce these darn bubbles. I don't want to go canister or sump. If there is one the emperor would have to come off I don't have room to run two filters while new one grows bacteria. Reason being I have a hang on skimmer and UV sterilizer. I do have 50 pounds of live rock and just one fish in there right now but I do feed my corals. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried taking a sheet of filter material, like what they make filter socks out of, and placing it at the outlet? Or even some low density foam, like what goes between up/downs or what is on some pump intakes (can't recall what that stuff is named). Thinking basically, something that the effluent water has to pass through which will trap the bubbles.

Yes, I got some filter floss pad material and rubber banded it around the returns it worked for about 36 hours. What happens is the pad material get so full of bubbles it no longer works. I shouldn't have to ring out the floss of bubbles everyday. There has got to be a better solution. That's why I am asking for help I have tried everything so frustrating. If I stop the bio wheels from turning or point one of the spray bars to the back hitting one of the filter carbon pads bubbles stop. It slows the wheels down but shouldn't have to do this with a brand new filter unit. Called marineland and all they are doing is sending out new spray bars I will be surprised if that works. Any other suggestions welcomed thanks!
