    Hello Everyone,
Just want to start this off by saying that I am so glad I found this week site. All of the senior members have been so helpful and have already made a huge difference in how I maintain my reef. Thank you for that.  I got started in this hobby by my cousin who left the hobby in the early 90s. He jedi'd me his ways, which work.... but lol things have changed, so I have been trying to learn as much as possible about the ins and outs. I started out in a biocube 14 gallon. I loved this tank, but in the end being it my first tank and it being a nano, I did not work.  I had a major crash in the tank after a tube worm decided to skeet skeet in my tank when I was not home causing me to lose all my coral and fish from this tank. Lesson learned, no more randy tube worms /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/tongue.gif

After this, I did not want to get out of the hobby. By then it was way to late and the salt had already entered the veins... I was hooked. The guy that got me started happend to have a oceanic 58 gallon rr tank just sitting. So after much fast talking and two cases of beer I scored the tank for free! I set this tank up and it is currently my reef tank. I have now been in this tank for almost two years.

Well after much thought and getting tired of seeing stuff I could not keep I was on the hunt for a bigger tank. I traded a .22 handgun I had and 120 bucks and got a stock 120 gallon...got the tank home and yup you guessed it could not get it in the house...epic fail on all levels. But the guy I got the 120 from gave me all the sand, live, rock, skimmer, and crap with the tank as well, so it was not a complete lose. This tank ended up sitting in the garage until I finally sold it this fall.

On the hunt again. After searching and searching I finally found an ad on craig's list a couple of months ago and finally found the tank that will be my reefs new home. I picked up the tank, lights and sump for this tank for a cool $800 bucks (to late to tell me now if I over spent lol )  I love the tank, its shape should really give the tank a unique look, plus it fit into the house into the basement where its new home will be. I am currently having the stand built, which will take a bit, but once thats done it will be time to get this beast wet /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/cool.gif

Well thats where I am at with everything now, I am so pumped to get this ready and going. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and also for having a club that does a good job at bring in the newbies /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif I would have been lost if it was not for this site.

That should make for a really interesting tank...I don't know of anyone else in the club that has a half-moon shaped tank. Thanks for posting pics. I look forward to reading about your progress.

Thanks AJ. I am so pumped to get everything going, but I am also trying to remind myself that nothing good happens in this hobby fast. Lucky enough that I was able to over buy on all my upgrades on my 58 gallon so there is not much more that I need to get. The tank itself is just like the tank that is at IPF&A that has the Arowana in it. I think the shape will really make for an awesome reef, I have had a FOWLR corner tank that I am completely in love with just because of the odd shape but it will be coming down to make room for this beast.

No no no, I just remember seeing that one on CL recently. The only other 144 half moon I've seen is a Seascapes. Cool tank! Sorry I didn't realize that sounded bad!!!
