I am building a kalk stirrer but I need an old computer hard drive, namely the magnets from it. Anyone have one they want to get rid of for free or cheap? I thought I had one laying around somewhere but I cannot seem to find it.

This thing? That isn't what I want. I want to build a magnetic stirrer.

Bud, I think you are closer to me, so I'd take you up on the offer if I could.
My design is ridiculously simple. It's basically a DIY stir plate using old HDD magnets and a 12V fan. People use them for brewing and it seems to work fine. I'll probably throw on a pot so I can control the speed as I wouldn't want it going full bore. Theoretically my only expense should be some parts for a circuit, the pot, a project box, and one of those little magnetic beans (forgot the real name, they are about $3). I already have a phosban reactor which shouldn't need any permanent physical modding. This is going to be for a BC29, so I shouldn't need anything larger, but this concept should be applicable to virtually any size of kalk stirrer.
I'll compile some videos and parts and stuff when I get going.
EDIT: I guess the "beans" I was referring to are just called stir bars./DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/laugh.gif

Conceptually the stirrer will be along these lines.

I got an actual stir plate from ebay, threw the stir bars in my container that is just simply fed by my aqualifter and it works great.
