Have you tried cleaning out the pump first and see if thats why it wont run? I had the same problem with my skimmer a few weeks ago, I ordered a new pump and in the mean time I cleaned out the impeller and it turned right on and has been running with no problems..

I bought a Reef Octopus 4" Pinwheel Skimmer from BRS and I have to admit, I'm thoroughly impressed with it. RO seems like they make a seriously solid product. It was pulling out gunk I hadn't seen with my last two skimmers and that was only within a couple hours of running!! Before that I had an Eshopps that was just loud and inefficient and after that I had a SWC xtreme 120 cone skimmer. Neither could pull the junk that the Reef Octopus pulls! I'll stand by them 100%!

Octopus skimmer is a good choice. Bubbleking for the fat wallet.

Nemesis, my 4 inch pinwheel worked fantastically for my 60 gallon shallow tank. It still works fantastically, I should add! If I remember right, BRS rates it for tanks up to 75 gallon.
