Basically all I need to know how often do you need to change your calcium reactor crushed coral media? Ive been running mine for a little while now, but it holds a lot of media, so I was unsure how often your were suppose to change it.. Let me know what you think thanks

I may be wrong on this but I don't think you do, unless it gets mushy on you, all you should have to do is add more as it dissolves.

It just dissolves away so in my case I am always just adding more.

With that being said I crank mine on super high and the media lasts about 2-3 months easy.

Alright it didn't seem like you would need to but it seems with everything in saltwater you have to change after certain amount of time..

Calcium Reactors don't function as 'filters'. The crushed coral is the calcium that is being added over time. It's an additive, like a Ph balancer, buffer, or food. You don't really replace the food in your tank. Once its added its added. Likewise, the calcium reactor should be taking your crushed coral into a liquid form, making the liquid into a slightly less acidic form then tossing it in the tank.

I think the trick is to think of the crushed coral not as a media but as an additive.

I realize its not a filter Seany D Its just my calcium reactor has been running slower then usual and my pump is still working just fine. So I was wondering if the media would crumble too much together and it seems like it isn't allowing my pump to feed water into it.. There is no water pressure coming out of the return.

Ahhhh.. i see the problem now. There may be an obstruction within the tubing if a large piece of coral got lodged in or there might simply be build up of calcification. But I would think that the acidic water would crumble that away easily.
