Anyone have experience with housing both these fish in the same tank? I have a 90gal tank so it seems they would have plenty of room. The six-line has been in the tank since it was set up about 9 months ago; the melanurus would be the new arrival. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I just did the same thing last week. They totally ignore each other.
My 6 line is the largest one I have ever seen, prob 3/12 inches and has never terrorized any fish, but he would flash at my Royal gramma years ago.

The melanarus i added is a good 1-2 inches bigger as well.

Ultimately I would say it depends on the fish, but has worked out fine for me.

My last tank was also a 90 my six line was much smaller than the melanurus I added and the six line had it dead in a few days just went psycho ended up having to remove the six line which was a huge pain. That's just my experience I've heard of many six lines that have snapped and become aggressive
