So I made an impulse purchase of this coral at Petco for 12 bucks. I thought the cadmium/mint color was unique and couldn't resist. I don't really know what it is. My best guess is some kind of cup coral. When the polyps are retracted it sort of looks like a favite but I've never seen one of those with polyps that extend out with little heads like this does. Any ideas appreciated.

Not the best pic but I would guess pagoda cup based on the polyps.

I shrunk it a bit to make it not as stretched out. Hopefully a little better.

Wow....The Petco around here never has any coral for $12. That would be priced at around $50 here....and thats if it half dead!

We have two here that are actually pretty decent, as far as Petcos go. The one by Jordan Creek Mall has ok tanks, and 1 or 2 people that know what theyre doing. The Windsor Heights one isn't terrible either for fish, for corals it sucks.

Then manager at the one in Ames rigged a personal LED over one of his tanks, and has packed a lot of coral in there. They get a good mix, but nothing as cheap as that. They do have some strange choices for their staple fish, though.

Here it is with the polyps extending. Any further thoughts given that change?

Pagoda cup for sure. I've had my blue pagoda cup for 4 years now on a 3 in by 3 in rock. I love it but am too scared to let it touch my rocks. I just let it sit on my bottom. It loves my t5 lights.

Thanks. I'll find a small piece of rock to sit it on. Hoping it comes around fully. It looks like it got beat to hell at Petco, but it is already looking better.
