I have heard many different opinions on whether lion fish can live in reef tanks, and i woudl love to get one, but i dont want it to damage anything. I would also like to get a scorpion toadfish but i am having the same worries! can anyone shed some light on this issue for me??

I've seen photos of reef tanks with lionfish. I don't think the lionfish or toadfish is an immediate threat to your corals. I think the primary issue with those fish, as with any predator fish, is the threat to the water quality due to the high volume of food intake and waste. Plus, you won't be able to keep some of the smaller cleanup crews (hermits, emeralds) because the predators will consume them.

with lion fish the only real concern would be any fish smaller than them. toadfish ive heard will try and eat any fish and have died because they where to big.

I've heard people raising saltwater guppies for toadfish. They love them. If you can get a good breeding population going before you get the toadfish/lionfish you could give it a try. They are pretty slow swimmers so I don't immagine it would be hard to net out later and find a new home for them. I was thinking about getting a dwarf lion for my propagation tank when I get it going sometime soon for a different look. After it's been in there for a while and it's used to eating frozen I might give it a try in my reef tank. The smallest fish I have is a 2 to 3" neon goby...
