I used to dabble in it a bit. I did a bunch of fabrication for a shop that was very short lived up here. I did alot of the fiberglass work for him. Im currently running a single 12" kicker CVX in a ported box with a kicker 750.1 amp and a Alpine head unit. Its plenty for my truck haha

My new neighbors are into car stereos. If you want their address let me know, If I remember right they were giving away their stereos for free but you need to uninstall them yourself but due to their work schedules it would have to be done in the middle of the night.

That's funny I had lots of my stereos uninstalled at night and a couple in the day. I used to be big into car stereos in high school but I got tiard of having 2 replace them every couple of months finally I just have up my last system was 4 punch pro 12" subs powered by 2 punch 100dsm amps. With 4 6.5 infinty kappa speakers and 2 1" kappa tweeters powered by an Orion amp all of them controlled by punch symmetry eq and a Sony cd player head unit with a 10 disc changer all of that was in my 87 charger hatch back I had it for 3 months till they stole my whole car striped the stereo then drove the car in a lake that was in 1994 I spent close 2 $8000 on that stereo so I gave up after that I walked through best buy car audio the other day and noticed how much cheaper stuff is now then it was in the early 90s

My dad said they used to put razor blades around the wires and along the inside of the place the cd player goes so if someone stole his at least they would suffer for it

I'm pretty sure my neighbors are using all their razor blades for other things so it should be all good.
I don't mean to diss ppl that are into car audio, I have a couple subs and a couple amps in my trunk but I don't feel the need to pound them all afternoon with all my doors and trunk open.

Yeah I'm not really into pounding either, but a few years ago I did put together a really nice care audio system. I really do feel that the best listening experience you can have is in a car. I went with a double DIN Kenwood deck, it's pretty sweet not fancy though just 1 cd and USB input, then I have 2 sets of RCA outs on that deck that go to 2 Kenwood Amps one is 4 channel 600watt that powers in door 4x6 with 2 way tweeders on a 3500hz hi pass xover, and the cone on a 2khz, (all infinity speakers). Rear window is also fed by that amp, two 6x9 infinity 4 way's on a pass through. I'm getting about 80rms @ 4ohms on those. Then a pair of Clarion 10" subs on a Kenwood 1000watt 2 channel 2ohm with low pass 40mhz.

Metallica, Dream Theater, Testament, Satriani, all sound AMAZING in that car, now I just need a nicer car to move everything into.

Funny story about needing a better car for the stereo, I had a kid that wanted a whole trunk done up in a cougar that barely ran.. I put a false floor in it with twin amps under plexi lit all up and did a custom shaped fiberglass box for him, got it all painted up and carpeted and about a week later he blew it up. Talk about a waste of money! I'm lucky he paid me before he trashed the car! That was the last big project I did for anybody, I was kinda pissed I spent all that time only to have to rip it all out a week later but I kept a bunch of the gear cause he didn't have another car to put it all in so it worked out I guess

Awesome to see some fellow bassheads here! I used to be the president of Team Notoriously Loud Mafia. We were a car audio team based out of DM, but had national membership as well. We have been to lots of DB Drag, USACi, SLAP, and Midwest SPL shows all over the county. Our teams main goal other then just going to shows to have fun was to teach responsible stereo use in a controlled environment and to spread the good word of car audio.

My last set up design was built for loud daily driving, and Midwest SPL's extreme class. The setup was 1 18 FI BTL fully loaded, 1 Digital Design z2 amp ( peakpower@13.7v@32htz with box rise was 5,300 watts at .5 ohms). This was slapped into an 1998 Astro van, the setup was tuned to 32htz, peaking out at 42htz max spl 149.97 ( could not crack that 150 mark for anything lol ) But on daily is where my van truly shined, two feet outside of the passenger window I was able to score a 137db at 36htz. The thing was a true low end monster, ask Tim (from seascapes) he got to hear it before it was tore down for the new build lol. I had to have 4 group 34 deep cycle yellow tops as well as a 250 high output alternator to be able to stop some of the voltage drop from the amp. Front end was 8 total 6.5inch mb quart PVI216 on a mb quart 1000.4 amp.

The new build will be 4 sundown audio 12 sa's on the digital design z2 amp in a 2004 chevy 1500. All in the back seat, I am hoping that the compression rate will be small enough in the cab at I will be able to really run up some big numbers at the shows. I am planning on running 2 6.5's in each door as well as a set of ol skool kicker cvr 8s in kick panels. That is if the head gasket is not completely jack'd in this truck.

I used to run a precision power amp with savard subs (my cousin was a sponsor) in a custom molded box the was designed to fit into my z28. That was in the 80s-90s. It was fun to see what Metal sounded like with subs. Iron Maiden- Seventh Son, Queensryche- Empire, early Firehouse, Ministry- Mind, Godflesh- Pure, Celtic Frost- Morbid Tales, Pro-Pain - Foul Taste of Freedom, Sepultura- Roots, and Red Hot Chili Peppers- Magik are a few cds I can think of that had some tracks that dimmed my headlights nicely.

Wow funny you should list those name Matt...currently I have Pro Pain in my Deck...I prefer Iraqnophobia sounds WICKED with 2 twelves and 1000 wattsl...and Sepultura is probably my favorite band of all time. Schizophrenia is one of their best albums...fan of their older stuff like Chaos A.D. and what not. Check out Mortification (if you already haven't heard them)...

Yeah, I recently saw Pro Pain and realized their newer stuff is much better. I also like older Sepultura and I'm not really a big fan of Soulfly. I'm more of a classic metal fan. I just thought I'd list a few metal cd's that have some nice bass for subs. I don't particularly enjoy Firehouse but have to admit that some of it is produced well. Unfortunately a lot of the early metal I enjoy does not sound good to my ear when you push the bass.
I've also recently been listening to Dying Fetus and Fear Factory for nice bass sounds.
