Well, crap. I just found out that Caribbean Filters is out of business and filed for bankruptcy. WTF. Ginny thought someone had told me as this apparently happened last week, but I even checked spam and nothing. So she directed me to another company called Strainrite and I am in the process of contacting the sales rep there. It sounds like the pricing will be about the same (they will likely price match) but they will not be able to split up the shipping, so I guess I would just distribute them somehow.

I'll keep you all updated on what I find out. Worst case is that I refund all your money.

 

I just looked over the Strainrite website and I see no reason to think their products would be inferior to Caribbean. If anything, they look a little better. Both companies are geared towards industrial filtration and if the products are good enough for them, should be good enough for us. I have a feeling that many of the places that sell filter bags online buy them from places like these 'cause all the dimensions and specs are exactly the same.

Still waiting for a call back from the rep, but the first person I talked to said they could match the price on the 4x14 sock at the volume we were wanting, but something may have been lost in translation so I'll wait to talk to the guy with whom we would actually be placing the order. Is my grammar right there? I can never remember how to use 'whom'.

 

Didn't get a call back today...will try again tomorrow...

 

I talked to the guy at Strainrite and they have agreed to match prices for all of Caribbean's customers. I'm working on getting the details all worked out. The change is like I mentioned before that they will not be able to split up the shipping. So I will have to figure that out. If the overall shipping for one box is lower, then I'll try to use the difference to ship out to one person in an area to distribute, or will have them at Spring Fest.

Details will come as I get them!

 

The order has been placed, all prices were honored. The only unknown is the shipping, but I wouldn't think it would be more than 10% of the order. It should be here by Spring Fest. If you are not attending Spring Fest, please find someone in your area that is going and I can give your order to them.

 

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the filter socks will be here in time for Spring Fest. They didn't have an "item number" for the pads and apparently that held up the process long enough, it was supposedly going to be taken care last week but didn't for some reason. I will be shipping these out to everyone, my hope is they'll cut a good enough deal on the shipping that it won't cost a whole lot more. I will also be in CR on 4/3 and should be able to drop off that portion to people in that area.

I'll keep everyone updated on ETA.

 

Well good news and bad news.

Good news? I got the shipment today.

Bad news? They charged over $75 for shipping (10% would have been about $48), wouldn't tell me what the shipping would cost until it was actually shipped, and when it arrived, it was in NINE boxes. I wrote a little hot message to the guy I was working with (who has been on vacation all week) so we'll see if he will bend a little but I doubt it. I'm tired of having to hold someone's hand all the time man.

Anyways. Next step is to open all these up and figure out how to distribute them all. I will be making a trip to CR on Tuesday and can drop some off with Craig there, as for the rest, we'll figure it out eventually.

 

All items accounted for. They look like a good product so that's the upside. Each item type was shipped in a separate box (8 not 9). So the most egregiously boxes items were the one (1) 100 micron pad and the 5 nylon socks, each shipped in their own 14 x 11 x 11 box weighing in at a whopping 1 lb. I'm gonna read this guy the friggin riot act man.

 

I can drop yours and jnjsad's off at Craig's house in CR on Tuesday then if that works!

 

Well I just looked everything over and if I bring the orders for Actuary, mcfadden, jnjsad, and Tina to Craigs place on Tuesday then he can pass them out. Also will be passing North Liberty so Eric if you are around on Tuesday and more generally available for people to pick them up that works, or Bud (mcfadden) you too. Discuss and let me know who would be the best one to get these (mainly for Tina to pick them up from you)

Other than that, I just have to get Adam's order to him, the rest are local. So it's not as bad as I thought.

As for the shipping, I had told the guy I was working with to ship all in one box, then he went on vaca, so we'll see what they say on Monday before I go about asking for anyone to help cover the extra shipping cost. Shipping was 79.11 or 31.41 more than 10% (order was $477). Splitting that up would mean an extra 6.6% across the board, which isn't that much, but it's the principle of the thing to me...
