I don't see what all the hoopla is about. That being said, I have one and it is growing all over the rock it is on. Can I just peel it off?

I loved my blue chalice. Such a great pop of color.

No, you'll have to cut it off the rock with a Dremel diamond wheel or an Inland band saw. Chalices would peel off rocks as good as peeling off encrusting montiporas; just not a good idea.

I think the hoopla is in the eye of the beholder. I have never been a huge fan of them either but some can be pretty cool; just another coral type to add to the diversity of a mixed reef!

Thanks. I figured it was something like that. I am not going to frag it.....yet but it grows so damn fast I might have to.

Mine grew out away from the rock it was on. I kept accidentally fragging it, and fragged it easily when I wanted to.

Don't get me wrong, there are some nice ones out there and I would love to have them in my tank! Here are some examples that might sway you to get into chalices.

I have had the worst luck fragging chalices, I think you've pretty much got to split the rock and leave the base beneath it. Also, use dremel instead of fragging shears.

When I got my blue chalice, a tiny little speck broke off. It was about an eighth of an inch square. I glued it to a rock, and within a few months, it was huge. I don't think I ever lost a frag I took from it.

It's definitely expensive and probably why there aren't many out there. I think a group buy/grow out is the only way to make them attainable.

Too bad you lost the orangeaide from Morgan, would've been a good one to circulate!

I also lost my flame thrower but I traded an eye with Morgan before I lost it. I know I can get an eye of both from Morgan whenever I want but I'm buying another tank and need a bigger skimmer and calcium reactor first.
Did u get the ozone you bought off RC set up yet
