I am running a maxspect on my 38 nuvo. It's been about a year and just not satisfied so going back to MH lighting. Does anyone have any thoughts an hamilton's Cebu sun fixture? Looking for legs rather than suspension. These also have T5 supplementation. Hamilton makes good product so quality shouldn't be an issue. Would you recommend 175 or 250 watt?
If anyone has pics, would appreciate the post or better yet a tank running this fixture!

    Thanks!

We had cebu on our last tank and loved everything but the heat. We had 3x250W MH + 4 x 80WT5 on a 210 (29" deep). Here is a pic of what it looked like:

How deep is the tank? I would go for the 250w if you plan to keep any SPS. ---Nice tank Dave!

What size tank are you running? That would depend on the 175 or 250. I have a great 36 inch dual 250 hqi for sale super cheap /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

The tank is 24 inches wide by about that deep I think-38 gallons. The 250 seems like it might be overkill? I only have a few sps's, mostly softies, lps and rock anemones....those things keep spawning in my tank/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif. Ran Metal Halide a long time ago on a much bigger tank so not sure what to run on a tank this size.

Unfortunately the 36 would be too long for my tank.

Great looking tank Dave! Did you run a magnetic or electronic ballast?

Thanks! I think you would be fine with either 175 or 250. I believe ours were magnetic ballasts.

magnetic ballasts are horribly inefficient, do they even make those anymore? I would only ever use electronic ballasts, if not just for the fact that they can run more than one kind of lamp. I believe I am correct on that - you have to match a magnetic ballast to the lamp type it can drive, whereas an electronic ballast can run many different types of lamps.

Also have you thought about supplementing your LED lamps with some T5HO instead?

A nice T5 set up will make your tank pop. The down side is you have to replace the bulbs every 8 to 12 months.

The Cebu has t5 supplements and comes with an electronic ballast option. 2 downsides is it uses a single ended bulb and is 6.5 inches tall.

All I want for Christmas is a 24" DE MH fixture with t5's and adjustable legs, with a low profile....is that too much to ask???? /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

Other option is going all t5's .....
