I'm wondering if anyone in ames has any cheap coral frags they'd sell me since I have a 28 g biocube that's looking really empty at the moment and we all know that an empty tank is a boring tank.

What exactly were you looking for? Also, what is your setup like? Lighting, skimmer?

I have several things but I live in Des Moines if you want to travel.  Mostly softies so don't know what you tank is being set up for.

@FlyingMoray I'm using the lighting system the biocube has included, a 36 watt Actinic, a 36 watt 10,000K halide, and 3 lunar lights. For skimming I went a little overboard since it will be housing a juvenile moray eel, the tank has a AquaC Remora hooked up to it. Since the flow rate is much less than I want it to be, I'm going to add one or two korilia nanos for more water movement. Any suggestions for coral or improvements?

@IrishStock Softies would be perfect! This is my first time with corals so the easier and cheaper the better. I can drive down to Des Moines. What do you have?

I am considering taking my 10g offline now that I am starting a FOWLR. Was originally going to keep both of them, but my girlfriend really wanted just the one tank. Less maintenance for me is probably a good thing with the amount of school and work I have on my plate. I have really simple stuff, mostly mushrooms (blue/purple, greens, reds) and various ricordias. Also have a few plugs of kenya tree and some zoanthids and some frogspawn. Most of it is all on live rock totaling about 11-15 pounds. Was originally going to seed the FOWLR with this rock, but didn't want to introduce the polyps to the tank, nor did I want to kill them off. I need to buy more lighting for it all ASAP, so if I can avoid those costs, even better! Let me know if you want to come by and check it out. I would let it go for real cheap if you were interested. The only things in the tank I want to keep for the fish only are the clowns. Everything else I would be willing to let go! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif
EDIT: I added a 5 pounds rock a couple of months back, so the rockwork is actually closer to 20 lbs. Just as reference.

If you didn't want to take the rock and all I would probably just wait. Like I said, I don't want to kill stuff off, but I also don't want a half empty tank (which you seem to understand LOL). Not sure what you were looking at spending, but I am sure I could make it work. I'd rather see it go to a good home than just nuked like it seems to happen so often in the hobby. Either way, let me know. I should be available during the weekend given some notice in advance.

Nothing terribly fancy. Some are an alive green with white specs (I call them starry night but that is no official name). Others are a bright orange with green skirts. This tank was an ultra budget tank so I didn't put high-end stuff in it. That was planned for the 150, but that took a different turn.

Totally understandable Bela. I would take your live rock but my tank is literally overflowing with it so I have no room.

It didn't say. Since it was 10,000k i assumed it was a halide, but it could be a power compact.

If you are coming to Des Moines - and don't get everything you want from Irishstock, I also have some softies - a teal blue zoa (around 20 polyps) for $10 & a couple other zoas for $10 (dark green with dark red skirt and a pink lemonade).  I've also got a small devil's hand frag - $5.   I'm in West Des Moines.

10,000K is a color temperature. You won't be able to tell what kind of lighting you have by color temperature alone. I am betting it is PC lighting based on the wattage you mentioned.

Probably, since a halide would be way too hot for how close it is to the surface.
