So after talking to my buddy bobo.v.50 about some lighting options and I think hes on to something...
My current light setup is a Hamilton Deluxe 3 x 175 MH 2 x 72 act, and 18 led moon lights.
As far as bulb replacement and energy costs and functionality, I think these LEDs will pay for themselves in no time.. Best part is, they're LOCAL! Ames, Iowa is where this company is located.. Pricey, but i think this is the way to go... Check em out!
    They are from Aqua Illumination.

They are incredible lights. I got to take a peek of the vega at macna. The wireless mode is sweet. And individual module control is amazing. AC&C also carries AI so with the GIRS discount yo can save some cash for picking up something else from them.

That link didn't work for me, but +1 on AI lighting. I've had it for over a year, and it's great. Aquacave will also give you a discount if you mention GIRS membership. Of course, you should join if GIRS if you're going to ask for a discount.

I've been watching this site for awhile, waiting for their new product. They are also in Ames, so I'm wondering if they are connected

    You would be surprised.
The white you can still turn on the blue alot.  The white has higher par results in better growth.
So it depends on what they are looking for.

Looking for a little bit of both. Extremely Vivid colors, and nice growth. After all, we buy corals and fish to watch em grow so we can enjoy em right?

I kinda wish most of my fish and coral would STOP growing. I'm somewhat serious.....

But more to the point I think the Sol Whites are generally used more for growth than for vivid colors. For example the SOL Whites may be a good option for the fragger who wants to grow out their frags.

The SOL BLues will give you the most flexibility. They can also really make your corals glow when you crank on the blues.

Again, I am not well schooled on teh super blues.

I know for awhile when I bought my Sol Blues that the Whites were ALWAYS in stock, the Blues, not so much. THat is why I said everyone buys the blues. Plus, I don't know anyone that has Sol Whites personally. I would guess there are 100 people on this board with AI lights......

AIs are great. You probably actually wouldn't need to get 6 modules to cover your tank. I bet you would be surprised how well 4 of those units would cover a 6 ft tank and pump plenty of light to the bottom.

Are you sure??? That would save me a ton of cash not having to buy 6 pendants.
    L 24'' W 72'' H 24'' Are you sure 4 would be enough??

I got 2 of the SOL Blues. I got 1 new thats on the way and 1 used with a controller. This is for a 4ft tank I also ordered a mounting kit from reefkoi that came today as I didnt care for AI tank mount kit and my wife was totally against hanging them from the ceiling.

You only need 4 ai units for your tank in my opinion. I have only four on my 125. I also had to get one white and 3 blues to decide the difference my self. I do believe the white would probably be better for growth. I started out at only 37% and have gone up only a couple percent a weekand nearly 50%. Everything is starting to really take off. Birdsnest and slimer really starting to like it. Brain coral gets mad everytime I crank up a little. I will be more than glad to share with youngest what I did. You have a million timers (14) and really only need 3. Keep it simple. I have had a lot of people tell me that the thunderstorm will scare your fish to death, mine don't care.

You could actually start with 3 and work your way from there. But I think 4 would be all you need. How high can you get them above the waterline? If you can get them up ~10" or so you can really cover some area. If you start adding more light intensive corals you can add another module if needed.
I have 3 units hanging over my 250DD tank. L 60" W 36" water depth 27". It covers pretty good, but I'm going to add a 4th module and I don't think I will need any more light than that.
