    All,

Sorry if I missed this but if you have the Hanna Alkalinity test colorimeter then you need to go to this site and make sure your reagents are not from a bad lot.

    HI755-26 Reagent Replacement Program

I thought the URL was fishing for name address Bull sh#t because their actual website had no info. Emailed the company who confirmed it is legit. Also, picture of the bottle is sufficient.

I had 2 that were bad, I didn't take any pics though, saw that it said provide proof of purchase "if available" so we'll see. I'll just hang on to the bottles.

I have 2 more that are expired (8/14) but I've tested using that one then the other (defective) one right after and they were the same....hmmmm.....

I checked my readings compared to the salifert test and they were the same also. So I guess I'll have like 8 bottles now lol :)

Did more digging. Once you remove the factory foil seal the seal in the cap reacts with the reageant. So don't shake the bottle and always store upright.

Refrase. Two seals, factory foil and then just the cap seal. The cap seal has a chemical that messes with the liquid

I have a refill bottle that I havent opened yet. Box is still in plastic. So once I open it, if I dont shake it and keep it upright it will be good?

With an Alkalinity test is it really worth the risk? Especially if they will refund your purchase. Just my opinion.

Well this is straight from their tech. The seal in cap reacts with the reageant and defects it. The reageant itself is fine, its the bottle that's defective.
The reageant is quite cheap and for myself, I won't use up two bottles before one hits exp date. But for those above that thought they would continue use, felt I would pass that info along before they discovered an issue over time.

I have one unopened bottle and one opened. While I do shake them a bit, I won't do this anymore, and I always keep them upright. I suppose one could place a piece of saran wrap over the top and then the cap, to prevent contact with the inside of the cap. My older bottle looks like it has the exact same stuff in the cap so why isn't that one recalled? Maybe I should keep the old cap and put it on the new bottle! @abower@abower ask them about that! I would, but it sounds like you have the ear of a tech that knows their stuff

I got my reagent in on Friday. I think they could have used a bigger box to ship it in tho. .. .
