So in the past I had a cleanup crew of crabs and snails but the crabs would kill the snails to steal their shell and then the crabs would get big. The crabs would then knock things over.

I now have a nano 29 and so far have opted for no snails or crabs. Thouights?

Is there another way to keep the brown algae and dietris undercontrol without too many animals to do it>?

I always have clean ups and it is a small price to pay for nuisance algae free reefing. I for one always get the micro blue legged crabs at a rate of 2 per gallon, one emerald per 20 gallon and a mix of snail species at 1 per gallon. Pair this with 10% weekly water changes and my tanks are sparkling clean coral and reef fish wonderlands. This recipe works for me and my tanks. Need picture proof, text me at 319-899-8460 and I will snap a quick pic.

I had done away with crabs 4 years ago and will never go back to them. Just get a variety of snails and a shrimp or two.
