So my magfloat has gotten debris in it and scratched my glass. Ive tried and tried to clean it out and i dont wanna use it. I have tiny algae dots that are hard to remove. Can i use some of my white filter floss or will it scratch the glass as well?

Petco sells cheap glass pads. They work really good. Far as your mag float id use some vinegar and i use a finger nail brush to clean it. Works awesome. I also keep mine out of the tank and only put it in to clean. Stays in my fish drawer. Nice clean and dry lol.

The magic eraser thing scares me. The magic eraser brakes down as you use it. Are we sure they are safe because where is that stuff going that brakes down in water.

Melamine foam is not safe. If you clean anything that comes in contact with food you are to rinse thoroughly because its not a good i idea to ingest melamine. I know people use it and it cleans well, but not sure I want that in my system. Not sure what to think at this point. Lots of people taking the risk don't make it any less risky.
Anyone out there really know the facts for sure?

Its air infused melamine foam. Microscopic abrasive and it disintegrates into your water. :(

Now that i think about it more i dont think id use it anymore. I havent in a long time but i dont think i will again. Maybe if i was cleanin an empty tank but not on a tank with livestock. Someone should fill up a small tank with ro water and scrub it with a magic eraaer for a while and then tests for phosphares? Idk...kinda interesting.
