I have had a pair of Ocellaris Clownfish for 9 months and got them when they were babies now they are a pair. I got two black ice babies from ac&c that I plan to put in a new frag tank but for now I put them in my display tank with the ocellaris clownfish. I separated them with egg crate to introduce them in my DT but the black ice swam out cause they were too small so I added some plastic mess to the inside of the egg crate. After a few days I mixed them together with my orginal pair and the first night and day were a little rough. They did not get along well but after two days they all got along well. I have had them for two weeks and things are good but concerned the two baby black ice won't pair up if they are mixed with my original pair. am I confusing all the clownfish by mixing them? I think I might put the black ice back in the egg crate box until they pair up. The egg crate box in my DT is only 9 x 7 is this too small to keep them in for a couple weeks?

Tough to say. At one time I had an older pair of ocellaris and a very young/small pair together in the same tank. One of the smaller ones didn't make it and the three of them did ok together for about a year. The smaller/younger one stayed by itself on the other side of the tank most of the time but would always try joining the mature ones. After awhile, the mature male turned female and paired up with the smaller male. The mature male (now female) started beating the crap out of the original mature female and I had to put her in the sump and she died a few days later. That was quite a few years back and the mature one & younger one are still paired up now & have layed eggs occasionally in the past.
