Club PAR Meter Upgrades!

Attention GIRS!

The Apogee PAR meters have been available for use by all dues-paying GIRS Members for years. It's about to get better!

Apogee has released a new PAR meter, the MQ-500:

The new, MQ-500, Full Spectrum quantum meter (with the gold sensor head) features an improved detector that provides excellent measurements under all light sources, including LEDs, right out of the box.

...and they are offering a upgrade program

MQ-200 to MQ-500 Upgrade Offer

This upgrade involves sending your MQ-200 to our repair facility where our technicians will remove the existing quantum sensor, replace it with a new full-spectrum sensor head, and update your meter firmware.

We will be upgrading all the PAR meters to the new MW-500 over the next couple weeks!

These new meters will then be available for use by GIRS Club Members. Availability and use of the PAR meters is one of the great benefits of being a member of GIRS, and soon it will be even better, as these are LED ready right out of the box.

GIRS has 5 PAR meters, one in each region. The regional trustees are in charge of the meter, each trustee keeps a list of who wants to borrow the meter. I have a feeling that after these upgrades, the list will grow a bit!
