If you payed attention in your concealed weapons class, they told us, in my class anyways, that a .22 is a waste. You think a little pea bullet is gonna stop a mugger ect who is probably raging on pure adrenaline or drugs? Haha, I'd brush that **** off. You need something with a wallop! Hollow points! .380 or bigger... .22 lmao

a .22 is a "dirty" bullet. it can literally bounce off bone and really tear your insides up. He said he would use it for target shooting, and I think that would be perfect for it.
Whatever it is i hope you dont have to actually use it to defend yourself or family. but i would rather have and not need, then need and not have. even a.22

1st- i havent taken the class yet so i dont know what they will tell me.

2nd- a couple rounds to the gut or chest will drop a person. From close distances a couple shots will inflict bad damage.

Like ive said i want it to get the feel for a weapon. 500 rounds for $25. The .45 im getting is $1 a round. $50 for 50 rounds...

Now there's where your wrong. You have to be in imminent danger, and that call that basically right in front of you. If you think you can squeeze off a couple bullets. GL. You will learn this in class. Enjoy! I carry a .460 S&W in my car. Now that's a gun.. 22... Phfff. One shot from my .460 and it's safe to say your torso will be separated from the rest of your body

As long as you dont have assault charges or A domestic abuse charge your good! You won't get it with those. At least not in my county. just what I heard that deters them from giving you a license.. My buddy had a couple assault charges, he got turned down after he paid 100$ for the class, lol!

I understand what you are saying but my .22 on my hip is still better than your .460 in your car. Lol id rather depend on that than something that isnt close to my body...

A .22 to the gut isn't going to stop an assailant strung out on who knows what. As Money Mike stated, typical situation is very close, and split second. If you're lucky enough to get to your gun at all, your little .22 is just going to inciting a little more rage in the guy before he sticks you with his knife.
.22 is great for target shooting and plinking, but don't even bother carrying it for a self defense weapon. If you want to get a pistol for target/range time get a 9mm. Ammo can be bought in bulk for like 20 cents/rd. Plus a 9mm would actually be more practical for a concealed carry weapon.

Finally, some common sense! For the record, I carry that 460 in my car, and a 45 on my side. You need to practice Releasing your gun from your holster. Seriously. I can get mine out and on target in about 1 1/2 seconds. That's fast. I know I can count on the stopping power from the 45.
If you really think a 22 is enough, do us all a favor and just stay home. HP are the way to go, and 22 doesn't have the balls to get'r done. Not to mention man, if you do discharge your weapon and it goes through the threat, and hits someone else, GOOD LUCK fighting a manslaughter charge. Pure negligence is what that's about

If you kept up on the local news over the past year, the sheriffs office clearly stated that majority of the applicants, would have got there permit before the new law.

Can a mod please close this thread as im tired of all the negative people who dont know anything about me or what im trying to achieve by taking this class. I WONT BE CARRYING AT ALL TIMES. i want it for reasons for my own safety while im fishing at 3 am and i am approached by a coyote which has happened. As ive said a dozen times I WONT BE CARRYING A .22. its for practice and target shooting. IF AND WHEN I DECIDE TO CARRY, it will be a .45. Dont call me out as trying to be a badass as you have no idea eho i am or what im truly like. I like guns and always have. I have friends in law enforcement that are going to teach me what they know. So this will be my final post as im tired of repeating myself...

Sorry but neither one of you sound like you're old enough to own firearms. How childish.

Wow I'm sad to see this thread come to this. It might not of been intended but money mike you seemed to of got personal and went on the attack with this. I have been in this club for a long time and have watched a few threads get like this. The one thing the club had always done was try to keep mods out of posts like reef central where you have very limited rights in posts. If this type of stuff keeps up you will see mods on rules made and enforced.

Travis I think starting off small and going out with a deputy and slowly learning is a good thing. Some people learned from there parents at a young age or went learned from a form of service. You might not of learned the same way but seem to be doing it with responsibility so good luck to you
