So I've been playin around with the idea of gettin a controller. What does everybody use? What would you reccomend for my first controller? I'm looking for something that won't break the baNk and is relativly easy to use. I'm kinda leaning toward the Reefkeeper lite but an not sure what I want for modules or if its really worth the money to get the L3 package? What do you guys think?
The controller will be on my 45. I'm about 8 monthes into my first true mixed reef tank and would like a little more automation. Any insight would be great!

    Here's my two cents...

The Reefkeeper controllers are good if you can get them on a firmware that's stable. Some of the firmware versions are buggy and cause things like full power outages to all controlled outlets.

The Neptune Systems aquacontrollers are not perfect either (let's face it, all of them have some little bugs here and there), but have a reputation for being much more stable and reliable. Now, Neptune recently (within the last year) released the Apex line, which has pushed down the price on the last generation of controllers (AC3). You should be able to buy a used controller, DC8, temp probe and pH probe bundle for between $300 and $350...maybe less. It's a great controller, and probably the most bang for your buck. It also supports remote administration via the Internet and has apps for iPhone and Android phones. Finally, since lots of people in the club have AC3's, you'll have no shortage of people to ask when you need help with something.

    Good luck!
