I just set up my mineral mud refugium about two months ago and checked numerous times for life with a microscope and visual observation and found nothing. For the past week i have been adding my greenwater mix copepods, ciliate, rotifers and brine shrimp all mixed in a 1gal jug to my slow flow refugium (160gph)and after the second day i started noticing them in my protine catcher (a breeder hang on side 5"x3" plastic). i have added 1gal of mix over the past 5 days and have found Ciliate (zooplankton smaller than a rotifer eaten by all filter feeders)to reproduce at high numbers in only one 5ml vile taken from the center of the breeder had 20 or more Ciliate and many Copepods where there was nothing! My tank looks beter than it has in a long time dont know if it is a related occurrence seems i have been negleting my 300gal coral/stingray tank since i have gottin so into culturing! Please call with questions as u can see i to am still learning through observation i never thought Ciliate would reproduce so quick in a refugium. Just call if u are interested in trying a gal in your own tank. 319-981-4666
    Thank You
