Well, I've got some bad news, we're going to have to reschedule this event. I was out of town this weekend and had my roommate feed my fish. I'm switching up my auto-top off at the moment, so I've got a 20 gallon vertical plastic tank that is set to auto fill/auto shut off directly from my ro/di so when I do water changes I can fill it up right away. For the past week or two I was using this tank for topping off. I had him turn the ball valve on this tank one time to top it off while I was gone, when I got back I found out he doesn't know how to shut a ball valve after he opens it, so it had been pouring ro/di water into my sump since Monday around 5 when I had him do this. My salinity was 1.025, when I got home last night it was 1.010.
I'm going to be going through enough pulling the dead from my tank and doing tons of water changes to be able to pull off a fragging demo like this. I'm very sorry guys.
We're going to have to reschedule this event sometime in the near future.
Again, I'm sorry, but it's just not going to work.
    -Adam

That's a shame Adam.. i was away for the weekend (gone 36 hrs) and came home to my nano unplugged. My chromie was already gone and my beautiful black and white clownfish were on their sides gasping.... i turned everything back on and then did a 50% water change and crossed my fingers.... (all of this at 2 am after driving 8 1/2 hrs).

I waited anxiously for lights to come on next morning... Good news? My clownfish survived and are doing well, yellow goby ok. but unfortunately my pistol shrimp , anemone, colt leather, and pagoda did not survive...

That sucks Adam. Good luck on getting some of it to pull thru.

I had a bunch of corals in hyposalinity for a few days and I was surprised how much pulled thru. Even the stuff that doesn't look so good, give it a few days. My acans all went to brown jelly, but I had bastos and other LPS pull thru. Good luck.

I came back from a 3 days away to my clams not looking good. Still wondering what their problem is, but after a little work on the tank last night, they were looking a little better. I hope they pull thru.

Sorry to hear that adam. I got lucky this weekend myself. Friday night i noticed my tank was to cold and found out 2 out of 3 heaters were bad. I was leaving in the morning for the weekend so i put 2 in i had laying around. My neighbor kept a close eye on it all weekend and tweaked the heaters as needed. I owe him big time. Its great to have good neighbors.
Good luck with everything and once again sorry to hear that.

I've got the salinity up to about 1.024 or so. For a future reference, how fast is it safe to raise salinity? When I got home last night I mixed up about 10-15 cups worth of salt and didn't wait quite an hour before swapping it out with tank water. Then what I did was mix up 20 gallons of saltwater that was twice salinity and I would siphon water from my tank into that container while it was also pouring back into the tank. What are the side affects of not mixing it more than a day ahead of time? My tank looks cloudy still, not sure if that's from adding water that was about 1.040 or if it was from all my coral dying.

Wow that's painful...ouch. That's a lot of loss!!! It's always amazing to hear how a tank can crash so quickly from something so simple. I dread going out of town any more.

    That sucks, Adam...
I'll replace the pocillipora, AOG & milli that I sold you when things stabilize - I can also give you some birdsnest (yours) back as well.
    Good luck!

That would be awesome Eric, I hope everyone who I've done huge favors to will remember me when they have extra corals they are thinking about getting rid of! haha.

Crazy thing about the Armor of God zoas, they are doing amazing now. The colony looks like it added 5 polyps in the past week since the near crash! Anything that didn't die right away is looking a ton better now. I've still got half of my corals...
