July 10th will be our first annual Coral Fragging Demonstration!
Come to Cedar Falls to check out this very informative event and socialized with fellow reefers in the area.
I am currently taking care of the UNI reef tank and there is a few too many "huge" colonies of corals and we're looking to diversify the tank, so we decided now is the time to trim these colonies down and hopefully trade for some new corals. The UNI tank is a 220 gallon reef tank with four 250 watt halides, sump, skimmer, chiller, etc. so please let me know if you have any nice/unique corals you would like to donate/trade/sell.
Please let me know if you have any corals you wanted to bring to frag also! The more the merrier!
I will be able to supply all of the frag plugs, frag discs, super glue, epoxy, bone cutters, holding tanks(55g, 20g, 10g), pumps, heaters, coral iodine dip, coral disinfectant dip, coral revive dip, gloves, safety glasses, razors, roto zip(no diamond cutters if someone wants to bring that), and anything else we should need. Please let me know if I'm forgetting anything!
Please post on here if you are going to be able to make this, how many people you will bring, and if you're bringing any corals to frag for the demo or donate/trade/sell for the UNI tank. Also, I'm open to suggestions about what time to have this, I'm not sure what will be the best time for everyone. As of now, I plan on having this at my place(1616 Olive St. CF, IA), so I can hold 15-20 people, if we have a lot higher attendance than that, we can find a different location...
I look forward to seeing everyone here!

Yea that would be a great coral to frag. Anyone that wants to bring coral, we could do some kind of trade with anything we bring!

I've got some corals out of my tank that I'm willing to frag also, we'll see what people want to see fragged and we can pull it out then.

I also wanted to add, the corals out of the UNI tank are Frogspawn, leathers, red monti cap, gsp, and maybe some zoas.

Now that I think about it, we could probably drill another hole in my 20 gallon tank before we start this if people wanted to see this done too.

Well, I've got some bad news, we're going to have to reschedule this event. I was out of town this weekend and had my roomate feed my fish. I'm switching up my auto-top off at the moment, so I've got a 20 gallon vertical plastic tank that is set to auto fill/auto shut off directly from my ro/di so when I do water changes I can fill it up right away. For the past week or two I was using this tank for topping off. I had him turn the ball valve on this tank one time to top it off while I was gone, when I got back I found out he doesn't know how to shut a ball valve after he opens it, so it had been pouring ro/di water into my sump since Monday around 5 when I had him do this. My salinity was 1.025, when I got home last night it was 1.010.

I'm going to be going through enough pulling the dead from my tank and doing tons of water changes to be able to pull off a fragging demo like this. I'm very sorry guys.

We're going to have to reschedule this event sometime in the near future.

Again, I'm sorry, but it's just not going to work.

    -Adam
