Purchased some corals from AquaSD. He shipped them in Thursday for next day air. They went to Louisville and got delayed there because of they extreme weather they are having. It landed in des Moines this morning and 3am. What's the chances of anything still being alive? I thought about driving to des Moines today and getting them but was thinking whats another day at this point.

That is why I keep telling everyone not to get shipments on a Friday, this has happened so many times.
Weather is just a BS excuse for saying they were over booked. If they blame it on the weather, they are not responsible for any losses.

I agree with Craig. Never get delivery on Friday or Saturday nothing but problems. I had an acronym shipment delayed for 2 days lost 2 out of 4. Had to do a slow acclimation. Like over 2 hours and 2 survived. If it's softies you will probably be fine. Hard corals probably a caps shoot depending on how well they were packaged.

Well he only ships on Thursdays so I have zero control over that and as far as the weather excuse that's legit cause the wife had a few packages get delayed in Louisville as well. I guess we will just wait and see what happens tomorrow when they get here.

Craig nailed it. I ordered pods for a Wednesday delivery. Didn't get to CR till Thursday night and delivered Friday. Both times. Second time I planned it on a perfect week across america, 4 weeks after the first shipment. Fed ex blamed it on shipping backup from storm 4 weeks prior. Read there guarantee clause and all the sky has to do is poof a cloud and they can call it a weather delay.

Ive gone to a strictly first of the week shipments, if a vendor cant understand or doesnt care enough about the livestock to adjust the shipping date.....I dont order. Sounds harsh but the fact is, you shipped on thursday, you have a dead box of corals, so you didnt gain a thing. And I dont know about everyone elses experiences as of late but fedex in my area is an absolute joke. Ive order two shipments with them in the past 6 months and both have been a circus. Fedex will never get my business again, if the shipper cant ship ups I wont order. On a side note im super sorry about your stuff, dont let it keep you from ordering new stuff, after all these years ive always hated seeing people loss really nice corals due to shipping errors and people losing interest after things like this happen.

If a snow storm kicks Tennessee's *** thence I put an order in from Florida to Iowa 3 weeks later. FedEx accepts a package that is paid for a next day delivery, any and all excuses from previous events should be void as the agreement was post fact from the event. They had the opportunity to refuse the shipment with knowledge of their overbooked route.
Overall consensus with most forums regarding aquatic shipping is the BS excuses the carriers use on late delivery, and in turn, voids the delivery guarantee on shipping that is typically quite expensive.
It's their job to know the status of their shipping routes. Problem is the lack of accountability of their judgment when they accept the package and payment.

I think it is a big fed ex problem
I ordered from 3 vendors a couple years ago, all to be delivered the same day. Well 2 boxes from one vendor never made it, they used the weather excuse. I said that is kind of funny considering I got the shipments from the other vendors.
All 3 orders went through Indianapolis, the 3rd got stuck there.
And if they knew Louisville was going to have weather, they should of rerouted it to Indy or one of the other hubs.

I am saying in general Fed ex always uses the weather card as an excuse.

Buyer gets screwed too many times. Not the shipper fault as they state on every website. Monday or Tuesday ordering is the way to go. I've never had any issues on fish from liveaquaria or petco.com.

Received replacement order today. Told him to keep it if he can't ship to me on Tuesday or Wednesday. Said it wasn't a problem. Replaced all from the original order and threw in some freebies.

That is good service, many sites say that they are not responsible for weather problems.

Did anything survive from original shipment?
