Is there something that could cause it to bleach? or perhaps eat/ kill it?  if you look at the little rock the zoas are on you will see white between the polyps. that white used to be purple. same with the rock.

Possibly due to low alkalinity? Has anything changed? Brighter lights, do some dosing?

nothing like that at all, only thing i have done is my weekly 5gal water change. this is just from overnight btw. was not like this yesterday. One thing i have noticed is those little astria starfish on that rock more then any where else int he tank. maybe 2-3 of em.  oh i have also changed my light schedule as well  from comng on at 10am and off at 7pm to coming on at 3 pm and off at 10pm

Astria starfish eat coralline algae. Just ask Troy. He had a beautiful 180 tank full if astria starfish and never accumulated any coralline because they ate it all.

well that is good news i guess, at least i know it most likely is not something wrong with my tank. outside of harlequin shrimp. is there anything else i can get that will take care of these? As much as i like the shrimp i am sure i dont have enough to keep it alive for long.

When the shrimp eats all the stars eather sell it ( They are realy easy to catch ) or get a cholate chip star and keep it in your sump and chop off a leg at a time and give it to the shrimp. Thats how I feed mine.

I wish i had a sump. As far as catching and selling them. I am not sure there is much of a demand for them. Now if there is someone in my area that I know would take it after iam through with it id go for it, but i would hate to not find a home for one and have it die.

I got a harlequin shrimp to eat the little buggers and I seen him twice after the lights went out eating away, and then never seen it again, & I still got the starfish all over. If anyone has one they want to sell let me know.
