I transferred everything from my nano to a 40g breeder tank a couple weeks ago and my corals (mostly softies) don't seem to be doing too good. They open up and everything, but are really receding. My water parameters are almost pristine because it was almost all new. Used same rock from old tank and added some cured dry rock. The lighting is pretty much the same because I had been using my Makers light on the nano.

I know with zoas and stuff sometimes this just happens, but I'm wondering if I should be looking for some other cause.

Perhaps your water is too clean? Softies/zoas like dirtier water

This was what I was going to say! Softies/Zoas seem to like the older water.

Ok, so I'm wondering how to get my water dirtier in a safe way. Overfeed, don't run skimmer, no water changes, turn off carbon and GFO reactor for now? Corals are looking horrible right now. I tested everything again last night and nitrites, nitrates, phosphates, ammonia are all at zero. I can't see any parasites or anything bugging them besides snails and hermits every so often.
