i Have found that oyster fest and the reef food the club makes is the best. Just my 2 cents.

Where can we buy any of the club reef food? Or when is the next time we can learn to make our own? /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

for sps, great random flow, high lighting, and great water parameters and fish poop, the oyster feast has also had some great response. for lps good flow, decent lighting, good water parameters and a spot feeding of a decent meaty food 2 or 3 times a week. I always found with my lps if I fed my fish with the pumps on they would tend to open up and expose there tentacles, then id turn the pumps off and spot feed, but every coral is different so you may need to try a few things and see what works for yours.

I agree with all of the above about feeding SPS. I also feed my LPS frozen mysis, krill and cylopeeze. Every time I feed my fish all my acan's and lobo go nuts and release their tentacles as a way to beg me to spot feed them, works just like the sad puppy face my dogs give me.

This has some good info. I am going to try to move it to the general info forum.
I have heard that fauna marine has an Lps pellet that is supposed to be great.

The club food is all gone.  We try to have this twice a year, so it will be another 6 months likely before we have another DIY food event.  You can check out the forum thread - in the Des Moines region forum for more details - but here is an approximate list of what went into it.  There are other places online that list recipes, etc.  Also, FYI the food is only for club members as some of the ingredients are purchased from club sponsors at club discounted prices.
    The "typical" ingredients:
    Shrimp
    Scallops
    Squid
    Baby Octopus
    Cod
    Jumbo Krill
    Blended Oysters
    Spirulina Brine Shrimp
    Bloodworms
    PE Mysis
NLS Pellets (back in after reading Randy Holmes-Farley's article on phosphate content of foods) (I have this already)
    Cyclops
    BRS Reef Chili
    TLF Zo Plan
    TLF PhytoPlan
    Coral Frenzy
    Nori
    Selcon
    Marine C
    Garlic Extreme
    PLUS:
    from Brine Shrimp Direct:
    Bloodworms (instead of Hikari)
    Brine Shrimp
Spirulina Brine Shrimp (instead of Hikari)
    Rotifers
    Daphnia
Mysis (reduce the amount of PE mysis)
Krill (in addition to the jumbo ones from Hikari)
    Additional supplements:
    Two Little Fishies Marine Snow
    Kent Coral-Vite
    H2O Life GVH Seaweed Soak

Had good results with Coral Frenzy, Macro Feeder by NLS - great for LPS spot feeding, Coral Smoothie, and Micro Feeder by New Life Spectrum.
