I dont miss the corporate days.
One of my tech's wife got laid off today from GMAC.  They hired 15 new people 2 weeks ago, got them trained, and then laid off the people that had been there 2 years since they were making more money.
So now it is Christmas time, she is 6 months pregnant, looses her insurance on the 30th.
Anyone know of any good jobs in the Wloo area with benefits?

I know a large retailer down the road from you that is pretty much always hiring. Benefits are not super, but the insurance is a lot better than going without.

Yea that really sucks this isn't the first time that Gmac has done that. Actually they do it all of the time! What happened to treating your employees with a little respect!

there has to be some legality about that isn't there??? I would think a lawyer would love to take a case like that, or atleast a news channel, and bring it to mainstream and drown the company in bad press

This doesnt suprise me at the least Craig! What even sucks worse is that its only going to continue this way with "Big Corp." buisness.
Let this be a wake up call to us all, SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUISNESS', for example buisness' like the one's Craig operates!

I agree with Snowman, a lil bad press goes a loooong way. What incentive does one have for staying with a company? Loyalty should go both ways. They do the same thing with teachers, but at least they usually get a buy out. So, then you end up with a lot of 20 year old teachers who shouldnt be teaching, and they replace 50 year old teachers that still have discipline and good teaching methods.

Our country is going to Hell to save a buck.

Yep, when a company wants you gone your gone no matter what. Been there. It sucks but may turn out for the better. Best of luck to you, Shaun

John Deere is hiring poeple, at least for contract positions right now. My fiance worked on contract six months and then got on full time. I don't exactly recall how great the contract benefits were but I attached the program coordinator's contact information below. She would be able to give more information.

Blair Long is the Volt Program Coordinator:
    Ph# 319-292-6982.
    Email: LongBlairA@JohnDeere.com

    Hope this helps!!

    -Brad
