covering your over flow

    any of you cover the over flow area in your tank so noting can get in there?
    If so what are some of the ways you do them?

    i used egg crate cut it to size and used two zip ties as a hinge so i could still get into the over flow

    I cut a couple covers out of plexiglass and set on top of the overflows.

    I've had the same problem, but haven't solved it yet. I'm looking at different material to reduce the size of the slits in the overflow, without reducing the flow. Bulk Reef Supply has this material that might be worth using.

    I recently had a chromis get sucked up into my overflow....when I got him out, I accidently broke the syphon...bad. Before I knew it, I had many gallons of water all over the floor and in the cabinet ... what a mess. I'm glad I was standing right there. It would have been a disaster if my sump had emptied !!

    Exactly why I replaced both tanks with reef ready[​IMG] We almost had a fire with the overflow onto the powerstrip.
