    I want to extend a thank you for everyone who opened their home and showing you tanks.  It was nice meeting so new people, and the entertainment of the some old ones (Nick)
    Over all I had a really good time, seen some amazing setups, and make me dream of the day I can upgrade.
    Once again thank you everyone

    It was a good time. Wish we could have gotten a few more tanks and a few more people involved, but overall it was a good time.

    I wish I could have been around today to be involved. Next tank tour I will have my house be one of the stops. Is there more than 1 tank tour a year?

    Had a good time also,picked up a few tips and got to see some great tanks. I don't know if it would make for a better turn out but maybe having it alittle earlier in the spring might help. but I did like the time that was spent at each tank

    Thank you everyone for letting me in the house to see your tanks. I had a great time talking with everyone. A big thanx to rod for hosting us for awhile and the great chili.

    I'd like to thank everyone as well. Now I want to steal David's tank even more along with Rod's frag tank! I got a lot of needed help even though I knew my lights were the issue. As I said yesterday I won't have the 135 next year. I'll have a 210 and I plan to be a stop already. Also if anyone wants to learn plumbing, including myself, I'll need a lot of help with my 210 once it gets here in June/July.

    I'll also be doing a DIY LED build for it as well. So I have a couple things that could be turned into a couple meetings for those that want to learn more on those subjects.

    Lighting and excess nutrients I believe are your main issues. You definitely are not lacking any in the flow area LOL.
    Cut the feedings down get some reactors going and get your lighting figured out.
    Did you say you had a good t5 fixture laying around? If the bulbs in that are good I'd stick it over your display.
    Get some GFO running, do a water change sucking out as much of that cyano as possible, then go lights out for a few days. Keep the feeding to a minimum. Your fish will be fine only being fed a few times a week. I'd work on getting this tank cleaned up before moving everything over to the bigger one. Moving problems over to a bigger tank will just make bigger problems.

    Good point David. Was going to start scrubbing the rock clean here in a couple weeks and putting it into a different tank / bin til I got the 210 done. The lights are the main killer. The bulbs are at least 3 or 4 months past due if not more like 6 or 7. I'd love to run GFO or bio pellets just can't afford the reactor right now. Lights will be LED over the 210 before I go crazy with coral. The t5 fixture wasn't reading on the PAR meter yesterday for some odd reason, but I did move it to the 135 front center where 95% of my coral are and they look to be opening up better today. My frog spawn is about dead but she opened up a little when it was right under the water line under the PCs so I probably won't have it much longer.

    Almost need some one to babysit my coral til I get new lights...

    A little belated but here we people! I had a hell of a weekend!
    Here's the permalink to my flickr GIRS 2010 Spring Tank Tour set;
    I have to extend an especially grateful thanks to everybody on the tour (especially Rod for feeding us!) and to Bob for picking up my slack this month! I've had a lot of crap going on in my work and personal life. Things are always getting better though!
    ALRIGHT! for the narrated view; here's the motley crew! Nicks fat hand is blocking Rod in the background! haha
    [IMG]
    Here is a frag tank Nick put together out of a wooden box and a pond liner! Very inspiring, I just bought a pond liner to do the same thing...It will probably be another 10 months before I complete that project!
    [IMG]
    To Troy goes the distinguished award of "King of Nano," check it!
    [IMG]
    I've seen a lot of crappy cubes, they can be really difficult to do right but man was this one RIGHT!
    Top down, check out the goodies;
    [IMG]
    Here's the formal FTS with internals exposed, LED's man!
    [IMG]
    NEXT Stop! We visited David's (blaxx-runner) place. Man is he coming along with the basement remodel, and of course the central element;
    [IMG]
    You'll note the presence of a particularly boisterous fish in there! She looks a lot happier, and luckily Davids lights are way up off the water surface, a luxury I didn't have space for.
    There's a lot of luxury about this tank, he's got loads of space to work with behind the tank in a service room, and check out the components and organization! Impeccable!
    [IMG][IMG]
    More in the album on that one as well!
    Next up was Kraigs place, he's got big plans and big potential! We had some good input for him, but man what he's got right is a NICE sump and components in a separate room adjacent to the display tank, THAT is going to be a big plus to work with!
    Check the mangroves, sweet;
    [IMG]
    I'll tell you what else Kraig has got; A nice collection of fish! I want an angel so bad! His Koran wasn't cooperating for the shot, but tangs a suckers for food.
    [IMG]
    Last stop; Rod's, totally unexpected! There was food, and beer, and 3 kick *** tanks (+a kickass frag tank) to check out! Rod used to breed discus and man did he have the type of space for it. I hope I can have such a nice place outside of town someday, you could tell, for Rod, home is where the heart is, and he's got a lot to keep him busy!
    [IMG]
    These H. fungia plates roasted my freakin brain out my skull dude!
    [IMG]
    The install of this reef sits on top of a Discus tank! Super cool (at least for most of us since many of us were freshwater guys at one point or another).
    [IMG]
    Really fat gorgeous albino snake skins;
    [IMG]
    That's not all! Rod had these two other tanks! A 125 saltwater predator tank, and a hell of a collection of zoas in the frag tank!
    [IMG]
    [IMG]
    Yeah it might have been nicer to have a bigger group, or more tanks on the tour, but this was just great! We were all entertained and had a great time visiting with each other, we went WAY over schedule, which is a sure sign that you're having fun. Everybody learned some, or picked up a couple of ideas, and gave me some feed back on what to do next month. We'll put it to a vote!
    I know some of you out there thought that tank tours weren't going to be a good use of your time, but man, this is what reef keeping is about! Remember, no hands on the glass!
    [IMG]
    Peace my ninjas!
