Great!! I've got a cracked bulkhead!! Last night I had to tighten them up a bit because they had slow drips, and then they were fine! No leaks at all! then this morning I wake up and one of them has a fast drip, and upon further inspection I found it had cracked overnight! This is great!! There is nowhere in town to get any and its to snowy to get to des moines and back fast enough to be back to go to work! And of course glassholes doesn't have a phone number, only an email!

What should I do??? any ideas?

I hate to say it, but you may need to drain the tank down enough that water isn't going through the bulkhead in question. This will mean separating your DT from the sump. Probably your only option, and it really won't set you back much.

Your tank just got water in it the other day according to your build thread, so you won't lose anything, just some time delay.

Keep the water temp up and some flow in both the DT and sump until you can get a replacement bulkhead.

Better now than when cycled and filled with livestock.

Hang in there, we all have dealt with these delays. I had leaky bulkheads too. Mine were solved differently than just tightening (bulkheads should never be "over tightened" as people say, but honestly, it is hard to know what is tight and what is too tight if you ask me). I bought my tank used and the rubber on the bulkheads was just getting really stiff, so I bought new rubber gaskets and it was east as could be.

Good luck, and like I said, hang in there. Your tank will be beautiful soon enough.

How do you have it plumbed and where is the crack? IE is the threaded part on the outside of the tank, and thats the part that is cracked?

Yes, the threaded part is to the outside of the tank. It cracked from over tightening the elbow into the bulkhead.

I have often been able to flip it so the the cracked threaded part is on the inside of the tank.

I had 2 in a row that were bad and completely sheered off where the threaded part meets the big side. Ordered 3 more of them and #3 seems to be working. Idk if theyre just made so cheap or if i just happened to get a few bad eggs.
