There are some seriously annoying/rude people on Craigslist. It's bad enough dealing with bad buyers, but there are bad sellers too. 1) Don't post something for sale on Craiglist then decide you don't want to sell it at the last minute. 2) If you want to sell something on Craigslist, you should at least make an effort to communicate with the potential buyers. 3) If you sell something a) remove the listing and b) have the courtesy to tell people that rather than just ignoring them. Sorry... Just had to vent, been a frustrating day.
Out of the few things I have tried to sell there I think I have had more people respond to my ads trying to scam me than anything, as soon as you tell them you will not do paypal and Cash only at pickup they get mad and stop responding. I should point out that these were large items that I could not ship, a tempur pedic mattress was the worst with the scam contacts. I try to stay away from there unless it's a local transaction.
I agree completely (both from buying and selling perspective). In my mind, there are two factors that contribute most to it: 1) it is free (both a blessing & a curse) and 2) people can hide behind the cloak of anonymity - much easier to exhibit bad behaviors this way At any rate, it is very annoying!
