More than likely it's not the crash, but how new your tank and sand is with the sand sifter star. It's not established enough to feed him. He'll start losing limbs and eventually disappear. How's the frogpawn looking? I can get you a couple more heads after all this is over.

frogspawn is looking good. i just did a 10gal water change found some brown jelly stuff in my sand close to where my gsp is and a lot of empty snail shells. cleaned it all up. decicded that since my pumps were off for the water change i would go ahead and feed. i guess i need to just sit back and see what happens now.

just a note. Just came back from AE and i guess my test doesnt match theirs. my PH was pretty low around 7.8 and i know it drops lower at night. also a small spike in nitrates. so i added some marine buffer and cycle to help things along.

something i wasnt aware of is that when i do a water change i should add some marine buffer to the water im changing. lesson learned and i havent lost a lot of livestock at this point. about 4 pieces of coral..

Is your tank bare bottom? If so, you may want to consider adding an aragonite sand bed into your sump as it will help to naturally buffer the water vs. constantly adding buffer. Good luck!

it isnt barebottom. im thinking part of my problem is i do not have a sump.

I personally think ph is tremendously overrated. I would guess my average ph is under 8.0.....and my tank flourishes.

I would guess ph had someting to do with your problem, but was not the only thing causing it.

I have no doubt potroast, my nitrates were slightly high so i also added some cycle as prescribed. what ever the culprit may of been, things seemed to have changed considerably overnight and im able to relax a little more.
