I am looking for crushed oyster shell in Ames. Anyone know where I can buy some? Not terribly familiar with any feed stores in the area. You think Theisen's might have sacs of it? Their search on the website sucks LOL. Trying my hand at making some rock.
Crushed Coral would work too if anyone has some laying around, but I don't want to pay a ton for it if I can get away with the oyster shells.

I've gotten it before at my local feed store for about $8 a bag....think the bag was 50#. This was when I lived in NE Iowa though-I think they all carry it, I just called and asked.

Don't know if Thiesen's would carry it or not.  Any of the local feed mills that handle livestock feed should have it.  If you call and they don't know you may ask for chicken grit - it's usually the same thing.

Gave Theisen's a call. They do carry it. I don;t even know what their search function is for on the website LOL. I have never found anything that I wanted that they do care on that search. Price is $8/50lb. so sounds right on par. Thanks guys /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif
