I'm looking for about 6-8 clear plastic 2L bottles with their lids. Going to start culturing soon. If anyone has any laying around, feel free to pretend I'm the recycling bin /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif
Also looking for rigid airline tubing to go down the center of each of those. Does anyone have any they don't want or know where I can get it for cheap? Thanks!

I can get you as many as you need. Literally. They drink like 20. 2 liters a week where I work and most are clear. I am in Ames though :-(
If you need them, just let me know.

Pouring out pop has to be cheaper than driving ANYWHERE to get these bottles. Really, I think I'd only trust bottles that I knew the history of. Hard to know what has been in old bottles.

True. Thanks for the offer Bela. Hopefully next year I will be living closer to you so we can exchange things more easily.

Kyro, I'm heading to c-bay tonight around 3:30. Will you be there then? I know what supplies I need but it would still be nice to meet and chat about it.

Not all plastic pop bottles work the same the quality of plastic is different on the clear ones. I forget which brand worked better. We found that when growing phytoplankton that some bottles kind of get etched and foggy from it and others remained clear and came clean for the next batch. So you might want to try couple different ones. Sounds silly but we found we liked one brand better than the other for growing in.

Well, I went to Hyvee and got four bottles of the 50cent sodas. Dumb enough as I was, I first saw a brand of soda that my boyfriend likes, Squirt, and grabbed it. Only to realize when I got home that the bottle is green. Not very good for growing green phyto. Anyway, the other three are clear- Dr Pepper, Squirt, and Root Beer. I'll see which ones, if any, get nasty like you were saying and I'll be sure to post if they do.
