Are there any stores/people in Des Moines that cut acrylic? I can't get the precision I need with the little hand tool /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif

Contact either Turbo's Aquatics or MJB Tanks. They are both members on here.

you dont want tight tolerances with acrylic baffles in a glass tank, the acrylic will swell over time and can lead to busted seam or even crack/break the tank. you give yourself room on either edge and the siliocone "dam" you add on either side cushions it from exansion and holds the baffle in place.

how thick is the material? are you using the score and snap method? how many times do you make a pass before breaking?

I originally had used acrylic that was perhaps 1/8" thick; however, my problem with the scratch and snap method was the bottom corner kept breaking incorrectly. Suggestions for doing it better??

You.just need to support the one side as close to.the line as possible and the whole length. Use a board or something similar. Put the line on the edge of a straight edge table and snap away. When in doubt score it 5 more times than normal
