So I've got a bunch of cyano growing on the sand on the left side of my tank. The right side is clean. I think it's a flow thing. I have a Coralife CP2900 on the left flowing to the right (it creates a lot of flow), but on the other side I just have a MJ1200, so there's a dead spot down around the area where the cyano is growing.

Another CP2900 would be too much flow, methinks. Any thoughts as to other solutions?

It dont take much sometimes to kill it off. Change the direction of flow to that area then check in few days. If its not turning whitish, but its stopped growing then your on track. You can also just suck it out too, but i like to often find the problem first if i can.

Additional flow will help. But if you have Cyano bacteria it means that you have excess nutrients in the tank mainly in the form of nitrates and/or phosphates. There are "reef safe" chemical treatments that work very well on canyo but it will ultimately come back if there is a food source for it.
